华胥引 Hua Xu Yin

So I read a chapter or 2 of 华胥引.  I’m seriously wondering if I got a right edition because the prose is very ….plain and modern speech.   The writing style is quite amateurish.   Lines like: 学术是无国界的,国界是可以被收买的。…… 我怎么能在面前这个人刚刚断气时就马上出门寻找第二春啊, from the thoughts of a young girl in those days, a princess.  Really?!

So far, nth epically poetic, which I was expecting the most with a title of 华胥引 (attached is the link to a good read of HuaXu in english),  archaic speech pertaining the time is something I’m expecting at the very least.  It’s so odd to see 白话.  It’s too early to tell if I’ll fall for the story later on, I bet I will, but thus far, not impressed. :/

I’ll stick with it, it is much more breezy a read than I thought, again thanks (but no thanks) to the vernacular speech.

Argh.
